Material Testing – Test Before You Invest
What do you do with a material that currently costs money to dispose of, but that may have a value you haven’t yet realized? That is exactly the question Norditek Recycling Lab was built to answer.
Instead of guessing—or buying a machine and hoping for the best—we test your material before any decision is made. With the right screening, the right technology, and the right combination of modules, the difference between waste and raw material is often smaller than you might think—but that requires knowing what the material actually contains. That’s what we find out.
What is a material analysis at Norditek?
At our lab in Fjärås, Linnéa— Our , Test and Development Engineer—works with our sales representatives to thoroughly test our customers’ materials. The goal is to answer the questions that determine whether a residual stream is worth processing:
What is the material made of? How does it behave? What can be separated from it? Which fraction has value—and what solution is needed to extract it?
Since we expanded the lab with a larger testing area and an industrial furnace, we’ve been able to go deeper than before. Right now, we’re testing everything from construction waste and fiberglass to twig nuts, gypsum paper, various types of sand, and even hybrid grass. Each material presents its own challenges—rolled sand requires the right mesh size in the screen, twig nuts need to be tested for flammability, and with the industrial furnace, we can determine whether a material has the right level of organic matter to function stably as fill material.
Why Test Before You Invest
A material analysis is the most cost-effective way to reduce risk in a recycling project. It provides you with concrete information on which to base your decisions before you invest in equipment—and it lays the foundation for the entire solution: what machines are needed, how they should be combined, and what capacity you can expect. We’ll then help you interpret the results and put them into practice, with layouts, flow models, and capacity calculations tailored to your volumes.
Whether you ultimately choose to rent, lease, or buy the equipment, the decision is based on facts, not on a hunch. That’s the whole idea: the deal starts right in the lab.
