Major breakthrough for Swedish soil stabilization and resource conservation

November 5, 2025 – Non-regulatory

A development is currently underway in Denmark that could transform the entire way the Nordic region handles excavated material, sludge, and soil contamination. Using new mixing technology, efforts have begun to stabilize roads, cap landfills, and reuse materials—with a mixing precision of up to 1%.

The results have been so successful that the issue has reached the political level, and the Danish government now sees significant opportunities for cost savings. The technology is environmentally friendly, resource-efficient, and circular—and ready to be introduced in Sweden through Norditek.

“We see enormous potential in this technology. It makes it possible to reuse materials on-site, reduce transportation, and create stable structures with a low environmental impact,” says Daniel Carlberg, CEO of Norditek.

Precise mixing with high capacity

Backer’s mixing system enables continuous, precise, and reliable mixing of soil, sludge, and waste materials—even when dealing with unsorted and unevenly sized fractions. The system combines sorting and feeding into an integrated process that provides full control over the mixing process.

The formulation—such as lime, bentonite, biochar, or ash—is developed in collaboration with the customer based on the material’s properties and the desired outcome.

Significant environmental and cost benefits

This technology can be used for:

·
soil stabilization and soil improvement,

·
final capping of landfills,

·
treatment of PFAS and other contaminants,

·
reuse of dredged material, clay, and excavated material,

·
redevelopment of contaminated industrial sites into buildable land.

Demonstration in Sweden

Norditek’s demonstration machine is now available for test runs. Norditek is currently scheduling on-site visits for companies interested in seeing exactly how mixing works in practice.
