Fossil-free recycling of soil in the city center

The project involved 1 500 tons of contaminated soil was transported from Gamla Ullevi to Valhalla IP for recycling. The material was a mixture of soil, clay and plastic (former artificial turf). The solution needed to be both environmentally friendly and able to handle the volumes in an efficient way.

Norditek provided electrically powered Screening plants that ran through the material five times to ensure that the plastic was fully separated. With an average power consumption of around 40-45 amps, the plant demonstrated that fossil-free operation is both possible and efficient in urban environments.

The mobile plant minimized the need for landfilling, which also reduced traffic impacts and emissions in the city centre. This is particularly important in an urban environment where it can otherwise be difficult to implement large projects without affecting the surrounding area.
